The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) is participating in the Al Sharqiya Book Fair organized by the Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission (one of many commissions of the Ministry of Culture) as a cultural partner from March 2 – 11, 2023 at the Dhahran Expo. The fair is one of the programs of the Writers and Readers Festival, which opened on February 23 at locations in al-Khobar, Dammam and Qatif.
Ithra is responsible for designing and curating the cultural programming of the fair, including programs in literature, thought and science.
Al Sharqiya Book Fair focuses on children’s literature by presenting and discussing the comprehensive aspects of the literary industry in terms of content, design and output, and by identifying its beneficiaries through specialists from all over the world. This will be the first conference of its kind in the Kingdom, and it will be held on March 8, 2023 at the Ithra Theater in the Expo.
Ithra's primary goal is to present a pioneering model in the field of cultural programs in cooperation with the Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission. Ithra is also focused on the exhibition's main theme, "Children's Literature," the industry and its content creation aspects. Ithra is presenting theses that analyze the current state of children's literature along with recommendations.
The fair will be open for ten days to offer a distinctive cultural program with a special offering for children, including more than 58 various activities, such as workshops, interactive walls, augmented reality, and performances for children and adolescents. The cultural program will also offer adults many programs, including five poetry evenings, more than 30 panel discussions, 25 workshops, and five discussion sessions with writers who have won literary awards. The programs will also include the unveiling of a new artwork for the book fair and a concert.
