While studying engineering at the University of Sheffield, Chris Leptokaridis has been interested in sustainable ways to build, ever since he first used recycled glass in concrete.
He has since held R&D positions for leading companies in the industry including Lafarge/Holcim and Titan Cement; working on smart materials, material reuse/recycling, and above all, the reduction of the carbon footprint of construction.

Now a UK Chartered Engineer with 20 years’ experience in cementitious materials, he co-authored the current Concrete Regulations in his native Greece and is an advisor on building regulations to the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure. He has published papers in academic journals working on the basic science of the use of carbon nanotubes, as well as recycling the waste in innovative ways.
