Faseelah is the winning design outcome of the Tanween Architectural Challenge, Building Simplexity. The challenge seeks to overcome the construction complexities commonly associated with digital design through the simplest of means, using digital design tools to root the work back in human-centered construction reality.

Designed by Lujain Alatiq, Laian Abussaud, Sara AlMaddah, and Lama Dardas with the support of the challenge partners Dr. Kristoff Crolla, University of Hong Kong, and Attken Do it Center (Al Bawardi Group). The Faseelah pavilion celebrates Saudi Arabia’s palm tree heritage, exploring the leaf and the trunk as core elements in its design. The pavilion is on view at the Saudi Design Festival, in Riyadh from January 10-29, 2022.
