“Growing up in east London, I never really had a voice. I was always the anomaly. The tournament chess player who lived in council housing. I fell in love with expression. This drove me to expand my thinking, and to push the human voice to a new and powerful human potential. The voice can bridge social, academic, technological and human innovation. I thought I was always experimenting with sound, but I’ve realized that to push the voice is to push the mind. The voice is our most precious tool; as it grows, we grow.” Harry Yeff (aka Reeps One) is celebrated as one of the most respected and accomplished beatboxers ever to enter the arena. To this day, he continues to build on a world-class skill set, specializing in voice and tech-based performance. His role as an ambassador for art, technology and voice is highlighted by a global lecture portfolio with notable talks on creativity, the arts and innovation at Google Exec, Davos, the United Nations, SXSW, Art Basel Hong Kong, Glastonbury Pyramid Stage and, most importantly, his old primary school. In this session, Yeff shares his perspective on bringing sound art and science into one collaborative space to innovate from.
