The Bus Station Challenge is an immersive 6-day program where the participants embark on enriching experiences with the aim to create a lasting impact across communities. This challenge gives the designer the opportunity to contribute to the quality of public transportation through innovative design and solution that revolves around the needs of commuters.

The Eastern Province recently saw the introduction of buses for public transport, and the local Municipality has initiated a project to construct bus stops along travel routes. Participants in this exciting Tanween Challenge will design a model bus stop, and the winning concept will be implemented and installed in the Eastern Province.

Participants in this challenge are invited to reimagine the exterior and interior of a modern-day bus stop, creating a more ergonomic, engaging, and user-friendly waiting experience for commuters. With guidance from experts, participants will reflect on various aspects pertaining to the bus stop, including sitting, standing, climate, shade, and social interaction.

Creative thought that incorporates interactive elements into the design is paramount. The goal is to build the bus stop around the collective needs of its users, thereby upgrading their experience and optimizing their comfort. This is your chance to take an active part in improving the quality of public transportation in the Eastern Province. If you are an architect or interior designer or graphic designer, we encourage you to bring your skills forward to create a more commuter-friendly experience for all and watch your vision come to life.
