Modular Furniture Design Challenge

In this furniture design challenge, participants will take their skills to the next level by innovating a modular sofa to be manufactured and sold by Al Rugaib Furniture. In this 6-day program, participants will engage in meaningful activities that lead to the creation of novel solutions; aiming to create a lasting impact across local and international communities. 

In an effort to promote innovation in the furniture industry, participants are invited to channel their creativity and create products that explore out-of-the-box solutions and break free from traditional constraints. This year’s challenge is to design a modular, flexible sofa that adapts to different sizes and shapes to accommodate various needs.

The winning design will be produced by Al Rugaib Furniture and added to their upcoming furniture collection.

With guidance from experts in the field, participants will delve into the elements of design and into the dynamic between form and function. They will explore methods of practical reconfiguration for a truly adaptable and versatile sofa. The creative journey toward the end product is what truly sets this challenge apart. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises and site visits that foster their creativity and innovation, and set out on a design journey where the process itself is as valuable as the product.
