Wael has spent most of his life in prison on charges of murder. He was imprisoned in his early youth and finally, when he became old and his health declined due to his advanced age, his innocence was revealed after the real killer confessed the truth.
Since he has lived most of his life in prison, Wael does not have sufficient experience or tools to deal with life outside prison, especially since his parents have died, and he sees that it is too late for him to begin a life of freedom in his last years as an old man. He asks the officials to let him spend the remainder of his days in the place where he is used to living. But the officials insist he leave... so Wael committs a crime to ensure his stay.
