Adding to Ithra Museum’s ongoing 2025 crafts theme, Eternal Crafts: The Art of the Manuscript explores the profound world of craftsmanship, shedding light on the complex relationship between the time, skill and collective effort that unite artisans. This exhibition celebrates the creativity of Arabic calligraphy, highlighting Saudi and Saudi-based artisans who have practiced this craft and preserved it through generations, collaboratively developing it to the present day.

The exhibition hosts eight artisans who have mastered papermaking, calligraphy and illumination and are at the same time inspiring educators who dedicate their efforts to teaching future generations. By examining processes, materials and cultural contexts, we uncover how this craft endures through tangible visual narratives.

Eternal Crafts: The Art of the Manuscript provides an educational and inspirational experience that immerses visitors in the beauty and complexity of the creative processes utilized by artisans, combining traditional storytelling with participatory demonstrations to create an engaging multi-sensory experience.
