Course Brief Description:


Platform Manager Skills is a course that focuses on developing the skills of moderators and speakers specializing in cultural events. From preparations to body language, this course explores your potential in public speaking and presentation skills. The course also includes real-life scenarios for the participants to train with and present in front of the other participants

 

Course objectives:

  •  Applying real-life scenarios and how participants can deal with them.
  •  Presentation of different real-life examples of good and bad platform management.
  •  Explore tools and techniques to help participants research better and prepare more professionally for any session.
  •  Allow participants to share their experiences (if any) and learn from each other.

 

Course outcomes:

  • Develop skills in public speaking among participants.
  • Learn how to deal with unexpected and urgent situations.
  • Asking the right questions to the audience.
  • Learn how to use the technique of storytelling in platform management.
  • Explore new ways of creating an interactive session with the audience.

Samya is an independent journalist, a media trainer, and a digital storyteller. In her training, Samya focuses on digital storytelling, innovation in newsrooms, and the process of employing technology to respond to different journalistic needs. She was the first teaching fellow with the Google News Initiative in the Middle East and North Africa. Before joining Google, Samya worked as an online video and social media producer at CNN in Dubai, covering entertainment and cinema, and specializing in the Arab film industry. She produced one season of the podcast “Scene Cinema”, which focuses on independent Arab Cinema. She hosts a bi-monthly show on CNN Arabic, Poster, which also focuses on indie Arab cinema. She currently serves as a communication consultant for ARIJ in Jordan.
Samya focuses on visual storytelling in her work, creating ways to promote news stories across different digital platforms. In her training, she focuses on teaching journalists innovative ways to cover news, tell stories, and distribute their productions across different platforms. Samya is also a children's book writer. She leads an initiative called Samya Reads.
