Course Brief Description:

A great specialized course that focuses on the details of children’s literature during six exciting days.

This course is for those who are interested in children’s literature in the Arab world, beginning writers or those in the process of writing a children’s book to achieve their professional goals. During this interactive course, participants will have an overview of the history of children’s literature, acknowledge and practice the fundamental tools to find appropriate ideas, write, analyze, build the characters, and choose the time the story will take place. This course will allow participants to practice collaborating with artists to draw an illustration and explore elements relevant to developing a well-crafted story. Participants will create a story that could be published or even earn awards.

 

Course Objectives:

 

  • Acquiring the ability to create a remarkable children’s book from the start to the end.
  • Practicing and strengthening writing tools on a professional level such as: developing ideas, building characters and the plot, editing, and collaborating with the artists and publishers.
  • Illustrating the right methods in publishing and marketing regarding children’s books.

 

Course outcomes:

 

  • Discover and improve the participants’ skills in children’s creative writing.
  • Deepen the understanding of the requirement of creating children’s books and publishing them professionally.
  • Recognize the value of analytical reading, characters and environmental understanding to find the right ideas for the book.
  • Acknowledge the value of the element of suspense.

Dr. Naseeba Alozaibi

Dr. Naseeba Alozaibi is a unique Emirati author who resides in Abu Dhabi. Regarding her educational career, she obtained her degree in pharmacy from the Jordanian University in 1998. Furthermore, she acquired her Master’s degree in technological pharmacy from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland in 2006. Nevertheless, she pursued a PhD in social medicine and health research from Nottingham University in 2011.
