ABDEL-WAHED EL-WAKIL

ABDEL-WAHED EL-WAKIL is an Egyptian architect who has designed over 15 mosques in Saudi Arabia including the Quba mosque, the Qiblatain mosque and the King Saud Mosque. A student of the famous Hassan Fathy, he is considered by many as one of the foremost authorities on Islamic architecture and has designed over 50 buildings around the world, including for one for HRH Prince Charles the Prince of Wales. He is the two-time recipient of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and received first prize for the design of contemporary mosque architecture in Riyadh.
