Moffat Takadiwa

Moffat Takadiwa

Moffat Takadiwa is an innovative sculptor who ingeniously utilizes discarded materials to create one-of-a-kind art pieces that offer thought-provoking representations of Zimbabwean society's lifestyle, politics and culture. His work True Story (3O), serves as a playful examination of the cultural hegemony imposed by consumer objects that have infiltrated African society.

Takadiwa's resourcefulness began by collecting computer keyboard keys, bottle plugs and toothbrushes, driven by necessity. He then transformed these seemingly worthless materials into his own unique plastic language, resulting in sculptures that offer a distorted yet accurate portrayal of Zimbabwean society.

Takadiwa is a Zimbabwean contemporary visual artist born in Karoi. His work addresses material culture, spirituality and the environment. He has exhibited extensively across major institutions in Zimbabwe as well as internationally. In 2008, Takadiwa graduated with honors in Fine Art from Harare Polytechnic College in Zimbabwe.
