Plinio Fernandes

Brasilian-born, London-trained, and globally recognized guitarist Plínio Fernandes fuses two worlds together when he performs: his cultural heritage of Brazil, where his musical roots stem from, and his western classical music experience, from studying and finessing his craft in Europe.

Fernandes grew up surrounded by musicians and from a young age his father taught him guitar. He began winning Brazilian youth guitar competitions in childhood, at 12 he appeared as a soloist with the Campo Grande Symphony Orchestra, and throughout his youth was taught by some of Brazil’s most revered musicians.

In 2014 Fernandes received a Brazilian government scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Music in London to further his musical studies. He has appeared at festivals and on concert stages across the UK and performed on television in Europe and in his native Brazil.

In 2022 Fernandes was signed to Decca and released debut album Saudade to critical acclaim and debuted #1 debut on the Traditional Albums Chart. Recently his star has been rising, and he joined the Forbes Brazil annual Under 30 list, the Classic FM Rising Stars list, and received the Young Artist Award from Revista Concerto.
