Maidaa’

Jouri Samir Jalal

This podcast examines the depth of the experience of the ancient cities across the regions of Saudi Arabia in terms of gates, houses, neighborhoods, alleys, cafes, and markets, and the extent of their impact on us, historically, socially, and philosophically. As for the story behind the name; it was stated in the dictionary Lisan al-Arab by Ibn Manzur: “Almaida” is a derivation from the Arabic word for "extent" – as everything in life has an extent except civilization since it has continued to expand in every age and in every corner in a different way.

We are working on retrofitting classic literature with a local character, thereby creating new literary concepts and intellectual ideas. We are also ensuring the podcast is enjoyably engaging and entertaining. Our goal is to create a literary and intellectual movement worthy of the Saudi people! Turning Shakespeare's plays into local works, presenting the works of Joha and his donkey, and writing original series is not an ordinary approach.
