War from a child's perspective; friendship is tested; life-long personal ties are created: The Arab and Muslim worlds are rich in such contemporary stories told from personal experience and deeply honest points of view. The Tarajim Mauzoun (Balanced Translations) initiative will present a collection of illustrated novels by Arab and Muslim writers produced in foreign languages. These graphic novels convey emotional stories that bring us closer to their authors’ experiences. Translating them into Arabic has the weight of cultural importance, as they raise topics that take readers to unexplored areas, forming spaces in which these similar and parallel societies intersect culturally and socially. Such writing creates a permanent literary bridge that places the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the heart of a new publishing movement based on diversity and quality.
