This track supports SMEs in projects that fall under the category of “Documentaries” and “Animation”.

Categories

1. Documentaries

This category supports SMEs that wish to submit a documentary or series of documentaries in the production and post-production stages and provides up to 1,000,000 Saudi Riyals for each project. The proposed project can address various topics of local importance or related to Arabic culture and presented in a creative way.

Documentaries Application Requirements

  •  Fulfill the terms and conditions of the program.
  •  The applicant must be a company or institution officially registered in the Ministry of Commerce with a valid commercial register.
  •   The team must include a producer and director with considerable previous experience.
  •   A list of interviewees if required, and a letter of commitment/agreement from each interviewee.
  •   For a documentary series: A list of episodes must be provided with a brief description of each episode.

        Supporting Documents:

  •   For the production award: a selection of edited clips from the project of at least 2 minutes duration.
  •   For the post-production award: a project video summary of no less than five minutes.

2. Animation

This track supports SMEs that wish to produce an animated film or a series of animated episodes. The work can address various topics, fictional or based on true stories, provided that they are based on principled goals, locally significant intellectual ideas, and related to Arabic culture in a creative way and provides up to 600,000 Saudi Riyals for each project.

Animation Application Requirements

  • Fulfill the terms and conditions of the program.
  • The applicant must be a company or institution officially registered in the Ministry of Commerce with a valid commercial register.
  • The team must include a producer and director with considerable previous experience.
  • Provide avatars of the main characters with a brief description of each.
  • A storyboard that visualizes the project.

      Supporting Documents:

  • For the production award: a selection of edited clips from the project of at least 2 minutes duration.
  • For post-production award: a project video summary of no less than five minutes.

Evaluation and Selection Criteria

 

After the submission phase ends, Ithra will review the projects to ensure that applications are complete and that they adhere to the program application guidelines specific to each track. Only applications that have passed the initial inspection will be processed. An independent jury will then evaluate the applications and nominate the projects that will receive the awards. Please see the evaluation process and criteria for more details.

 

Announcement of Results

The awarded projects and their representatives will be announced on Ithra website and social media platforms. An email will also be sent to applicants whose projects were not selected.

 

Award Contract

Ithra will draft a contract for the winners to sign after they are selected for the award. The contract will also include start and end dates, award value, budget details, financial requirements, payment schedule, general provisions, implementation method and amendments, and required reports and project results.

 

Consultations

Subject matter experts and specialists will be appointed as consultants to provide intellectual, creative and technical support and guidance prior to signing the contract and throughout the project implementation period until final delivery.
