Leonid Slonimskiy

Architect and founding partner of KOSMOS

Leonid Slonimskiy, born in 1987, is an architect, architectural researcher and academic. He received his education in Columbia University’s GSAPP in New York and in Moscow Architectural Institute. For more than six years Slonimskiy has been a collaborator of Herzog & de Meuron in Basel and OMA New York. Slonimskiy is a founding partner of the award-winning office “KOSMOS Architects.” Work of KOSMOS has been widely published and exhibited, including at the Venice Biennale and the Milano Triennale, and many other exhibitions. KOSMOS works on projects of diverse scales and typologies. Besides practice, Slonimskiy teaches architecture and leads a design studio in HEAD Genève (Geneva University of art and design), and TU Wien (Vienna Technological University). As a workshop leader Slonimskiy has taught at Porto Academy, AA Visiting School, Karlsruhe Institute of Architecture, Hello Wood Hungary, University of Antwerpen; and he taught a design studio at Royal Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. Slonimskiy has been invited as a lecturer and critic at various institutions, including: ETH Zurich; Royal College of Arts, London; ETSAM Madrid; Mendrisio Academy of Architecture; and many others. Slonimskiy currently lives in Zurich.
