Sustainable Fashion Expert and Circular Economy Director

Nina Gbor is the founder of Eco Styles and the Director of the Circular Economy & Waste Program at the Australia Institute. She is a sustainable fashion educator, speaker, consultant and eco-stylist. Gbor works with media, national and local governments, organisations, community groups and schools to create a holistic and environmentally sustainable fashion future with a focus on circular economy and systems change. Gbor holds a master’s degree in International Development from the University of Bristol, U.K. She designed and ran short courses in sustainable fashion and textiles at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia and now guest lectures in topics of circular economy, sustainability, ethical and sustainable fashion at universities and colleges in Australia and abroad. Gbor has worked on a number of successful campaigns and projects in circularity and waste reduction. Gbor was an impact consultant and guest contributor on Australia’s ABC TV channel’s renowned environmental television series, War On Waste. Gbor also founded Clothes Swap & Style, a clothing exchange platform that teaches and works with local governments and community groups to reduce fashion and textile waste from going to landfill by swapping. Nina coined the phrase “the fashion treadmill” which is about ending the modern culture of overconsumption that comes from the fashion trend of oversupply. She encourages embracing sustainable personal style instead.
