Rania ElKalla, an Egyptian multidisciplinary designer, is the founder of SHELL HOMAGE, a global award-winning and sustainable brand that provides biodegradable materials and products made from discarded egg and nut shells. She has a background in product design and graphic design, as well as having an experience in material science and production techniques. Rania works as an Industrial Design Lecturer at the German International University in collaboration with HTW Berlin. Her areas of expertise include sustainable design, production techniques, material design, and experiential design.
SHELL HOMAGE's materials can be used in various applications such as interior design, furniture design, 3D printing, fashion, and jewellery design. Her designs are eclectic, derived from different cultures and styles, and she aims to create functional and sustainable products that are completely biodegradable. The brand has received global recognition and has been featured by various media outlets and design festivals such as CNBC, Reuters, Al Jazeera English, Material District, Architonic, London Design Festival, Isola Design District, and has won several prestigious international design awards.
