Shaalan is a highly accomplished design professional with over 30 years of experience in architecture and urban design. He holds a degree from the architecture school at the University of Maryland, USA, and has held lead design and master planning positions on numerous projects across the USA, Far East and Middle East. Having founded BrainsStorm, a multidisciplinary design studio, Waleed later joined SSH as a Principal Designer. Throughout his career, he has worked with renowned firms such as Perkins+Will in Chicago and served as the Design Director for AREP in the Middle East. In 2019, Waleed took on the role of Design Director for AFALULA (The French Agency for the Development of AlUla) in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. He played a pivotal role in the successful development of the masterplan for the area. Currently, Waleed serves as a design consultant and advisor to Aseer Development in Saudi Arabia, bringing his expertise to further enhance design projects.
