Centering Communities while Dreaming at a Large Scale

Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, Ph.D. is an award-winning director and designer of experiences, who creates multidimensional experiential projects at the intersection of film, science, tech, theater, the arts and design. Hayoun-Stépanian has founded and managed projects, commissions and platforms from all scales from grassroots community organizations, to the UK’s most ambitious showcase of creative STEAM collaboration including free large-scale events, installations and globally accessible digital experiences. Recognised by her peers as a “manufacturer of the impossible,” she is known for sparking radical imagination while supporting youth counterculture, experimental practices and pluralistic platforms.

At Tanween 2023, Hayoun-Stépanian will take you on an energetic journey through her practice of centering communities and social dreaming in the building of new creative platforms. Discussing the process of making some of her immersive experiences, Nelly will address scales and new mediums of productions. 

You will see the behind the scenes of complex large-scale productions, she will also exclusively share the latest development of her feature film called Doppelgangers x3, an investigation of human settlement on the moon in collaboration with Hayoun-Stépanian's doppelgangers.
