Capturing Culture through Design with Rana Salam

If you are a passionate designer, artist or art director, this is your opportunity to spend two days with master designer Rana Salam. During this program, you will discover how to develop and curate a collection of products inspired by your surrounding culture and connect with your peers through group activities and experiences to foster future collaboration opportunities. Dive deep into Rana’s creative process and learn how she infuses cultural elements into her work. 

Rana Salam is a renowned British / Lebanese designer, artist and art director. She is known for her use of Middle Eastern popular art and culture, and merging it with the latest design technology to create a unique vision of graphic design and art direction.

During these two days with Rana, you will:

• Get to know more about Rana Salam, her work and her artistic journey from the UK to the Middle East and back!
• Discover Rana’s sources of inspiration, her creative process and how she infuses cultural elements into her designs.
• Get a chance to explore a local souq to get inspired by the culture and conduct on-ground research. 
• Develop a mood board summarising your souq journey to include images, color palette, inspirations and keywords.
• Bring your vision to life by designing a commercial home decor or fashion textile product that celebrates our rich culture.
• Have an exclusive one-on-one session with Rana to accelerate your professional journey.

Prerequisite:

• Basic knowledge of a design software to create mood boards / presentations, such as: Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator or Procreate.
• Please bring your personal, phone, laptop or tablet.
• We recommend preparing a portfolio of your work for the one-on-one advisory session with Rana.
