The process of selecting participants, starting from the receipt of their applications to the announcement of their names is conducted according to the following outlined steps:

The process of selection of the grantees, from the moment of reception of the applications until the announcement of the selected grantees is as follows:

 

STEP 1

Registration and Administrative Check of Applications by Ithra

Ithra staff conduct a registration and administrative check to screen the received applications for compliance with Ithra's guidelines and requirements. This includes verifying completeness, submission of samples, and relevance of the proposal’s topic to Ithra's mission. Applications that pass this screening are then forwarded to the jurors via email.

STEP 2

Evaluation of the projects by the jurors

The applications are forwarded to the jury committee, which assesses the projects based on the evaluation criteria outlined below.

 

Evaluation criteria:

Relevance (1-10 points)

  • Assess the relevance of the idea to the creativity and immersive technology scene (1-5 points) 
  • Evaluate how well the proposed idea aligns with the specific context and structure of the whole program. (1-5 points) 

 

Innovation and Originality (1-15 points)

  • Assess the coherence and clarity of the idea as a whole. (1-5 points) Assess the depth and complexity of the narrative explored by the idea, considering its ability to offer fresh perspectives or unconventional storytelling methods.  (1-5 points) 
  • Evaluate the creativity in the idea submitted and how it benefits from the use of immersive media. (1-5 points) 

 

Feasibility (1-10 points)

  • Evaluate the feasibility of transforming the idea into a working XR prototype within the program time frame. (1-5 points) 
  • Assess the feasibility of the proposed idea commercially beyond the program, considering factors such as market demand, scalability, and potential monetization. (1-5 points) 

 

Impact (1-15 points)

  • Assess whether the project brings added value at the level of the topic. (1-5 points) 
  • Assess the overall impact that the project might achieve due to the program and how this might align with Ithra’s objective. (1-5 points)
  • Evaluate the impact of the narrative and immersion with users, and assess the impact it has on their perception. (1-5 points)

 

In addition to this evaluation, each juror is required to provide a detailed commentary about every idea submitted explaining their opinion on the project. This commentary should include a general assessment of the project highlighting its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks.

STEP 3

Analysis of Juror’s Recommendations by Ithra 

The Ithra team gathers and evaluates the recommendations provided by each juror, organizing the applicants' scores and identifying any disparities in the assessments. This process results in a shortlist, facilitating focused and productive discussions during the selection committee meetings.
 

STEP 4

Approval by Ithra Board and Cohort Announcement

The Ithra team consolidates the final selections of the onboarded ideas and prepares a report to Ithra management. The representatives of the chosen ideas are then contacted for the final step.

 

STEP 5

Notification and Onboarding Agreements

The selected cohort is contacted, and onboarding agreements are finalized with Ithra. Subsequently, the announcement is made on the Ithra website and social media channels.
