Synopsis

Hadi Alees is a short film produced by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) which sheds light on the life surrounding camels in the Arabian Peninsula and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular. It provides a fresh lens on the history of camels, the deep-rooted customs and traditions that link them to Saudi culture, and their emotional and historic connection to the people of the Kingdom, past and present, in a breathtaking cinematic display.

The film unravels the temperament of camels, revealing the relations they have with their owners, handlers and camel whisperers. It showcases the picturesque geographical landscape of the Kingdom along the way, and then delves into the dromedary economy and what the future looks like for the industry.

Abdullah Saharti

Abdullah Saharti is a TV commercial director, with more than 15 years of experience working in the media production industry in Saudi Arabia. He has more than 70 TV commercials under his belt to date. 

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a focus on radio and television broadcasting from the University of Modern Science and Arts in Egypt.

The film premiered at the 9th Saudi Film Festival in 2023, where it was nominated for two documentary film awards, including Best Documentary Film.

In addition, the film was showcased at the Sharjah International Film Festival.
