Course Description:

This course is a great initiative for podcast hosts, directors, producers, and those who want to create their own podcast. Join us on an interesting journey to achieve your goal. Throughout this course, participants will learn how to develop the main idea and goals, understand and explore the equipment needed, and identify the podcast type and style. All of this knowledge will help participants to write, record, edit, and produce a successful podcast. This course consists of hands-on experience regarding not only creating the podcast, but also choosing the proper equipment based on type, special effects, and best practices for making a successful podcast. Having a successful podcast requires the dissemination of episodes through various channels, including creating proper links, using social media, advertising online, etc.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Sharing experience with the participants and guiding them to create and start a podcast by helping them choose the right podcast format, whether it be scripted, interviews, or team based.
  • Being able to choose the proper equipment based on podcast type, level, and cost.
  • Creating the podcast introduction utilizing basic editing on Adobe Audition
  •  Working on how to host the podcast on a platform, and register it on Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.
  •  Acquiring the ability to plan an episode by determining and defining the style of the episode.
  •  Researching the topic and understanding the format of the episode to determine whether it requires writing or preparing questions as an interview, and further understanding the interviewee style of thinking and writing.
  •  Recording an episode of a podcast that was prepared in the course with interviews between participants.
  •  Applying comprehensive editing tasks which will be learned on Adobe Audition.
  • Creating proper links to the podcast in order to be posted on social media in the most appropriate way.
  •  Obtaining skills relating to advertising by using Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

 

Course Outcomes:

  • To be able to choose the podcast name, theme, and format.
  • To explore the microphone, microphone arm, cabling, computer, and software for editing and learning how to choose correctly out of all these options.
  • To create and register your own podcast in Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.
  • To acquire the ability to edit the introduction using fundamentals of editing tools on Adobe Audition.
  • To plan and gather the information needed for the topic of interest, write short episodes, and prepare a few questions for an interview.
  • To record and edit a full episode of your podcast. The episode will be uploaded to the hosting company and prepared to be launched.
  • To create a link for your podcast to be listened to in your favorite podcasting app.
  • To create an Ad on Google ads and learn how to use Facebook Ads in general.

Dr. Mohamed Qasem

Dr. Mohamed Qasem, assistant professor in Electronics Engineering, specializes in Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning. Furthermore, his expertise lies in optimization and data compression. In the early years of his career, he worked in the Electronics department at the College of Technological Studies (CTS) at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET). He also worked as a consultant to the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). As of now, he serves as a member of the board of directors for the Digital School in the United Arab Emirates. He was praised by Nature Middle East magazine as one of the top six science communicators to follow. He follows his passion through his international public lectures, TV programs, the Sciware podcast, and his social media accounts.
